Determine Injection Fluid Volume

Text Box: Fluid Volume = BTV * ne * SFV Fluid Volume = Water + Emulsion Volume BTV =Base Treatment Volume ne = Effective Porosity (dimensionless) SFV = Volume Scaling Factor (dimensionless) Required Volume Scaling Factor varies due to Ratio of SR to SW Desired contact efficiency Higher SFV  Higher contact efficiency

Fluid Volume = BTV * ne * SFV

Fluid Volume = Water + Emulsion Volume

BTV =Base Treatment Volume

ne = Effective Porosity (dimensionless)

SFV = Volume Scaling Factor (dimensionless)

Required Volume Scaling Factor varies <br />due to

Ratio of SR to SW

Desired contact efficiency

Higher SFV ? Higher contact efficiency

Lecture Notes

To determine the amount of water required, you multiply the Base Treatment Volume times effective porosity times the Volume Scaling Factor.

Higher values of the volume scaling factor typically result in higher contact efficiencies. In later slides you'll see how to select this design factor.
